The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bachelor of Science in Studio Art - Education degree track, offered by the Studio Art Department in collaboration with the College of Education and Human Development, offers you hands-on experience and certification as a K-12 Texas Art Educator.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ is an accredited member of the . With our Bachelor of Science in Studio Art - Education degree program, you’ll engage in creative involvement with local schools as well as state and national organizations. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ student chapter of the National Art Education Association is very active, traveling to meetings and exhibitions as well as sponsoring on campus workshops with nationally known artists.

Studio Art Education Courses You May Take

Drawing I: This is a beginning course investigating a variety of drawing media, techniques and subjects, exploring perceptual and descriptive possibilities.

Art History: In this course, you'll learn about painting, sculpture, architecture and the minor arts from prehistoric times to the 14th Century.

Human Development and Learning: This course focuses on human development and appropriate learning and teaching theories. Developmental theories and issues as well as psychological principles involved in education, with emphasis on learning theories and practical application of psychological principles to learning and teaching. This is a field-based class with 30 clock hours allotted to spend in a public school.

Career Paths for Studio Art Education

A Bachelor of Science degree with an art teacher certification will lead you to a career as an all-levels art educator, and it could lead to administrative positions in leadership or curriculum design.
