Dr. Chu – Thanked everyone for coming to the meeting and introduced our Head Track Coach, Trey Clark. Trey introduced the student-athletes.
Trey Clark – Discussed cross country, indoor and outdoor track accomplishments. The issue that affects his program is online programs for international graduate students. They are not allowed to take all online classes and Trey is recommending changing some of the online courses to hybrid classes.
Dr. Zaloom – Discussed online programs and a way to develop in-class and online programs. The online classes must be equivalent to the in-class classes.
Trey Clark – Discussed recruiting in Louisiana. Students are very interested in coming to Texas and Â鶹ÊÓƵ. He has found a lot of interest.
Matt Arnold – Senior – He has enjoyed his time at LU. He has been involved with a lot of campus activities. He works as a lifeguard. He has met a lot of new people. He is finishing his master’s degree in kinesiology. His sister also competed and received her master’s from LU.
Katie Buckley – LU has a reputation in United Kingdom. Other student-athletes have had good experiences at LU and made the decision to come here a lot easier. Currently in graduate school. She works with the marketing department in athletics. She has the possibility of coming back for a second master’s degree, but one issue for her is that the program she would like to do is an all online program.
Webster Slaughter – He is from the Houston area and is very familiar with LU. His sister also ran and LU. Coming to LU, he lacked confidence and working with Coach Clark and the overall athletics program, that has changed. He has enjoyed his time at LU.
Dr. Chu – Asked student-athletes about scheduling and if they had any issues with classes. Matt said that the professors work with student-athletes. Katie said most of her classes are in the evening and she has early morning practice. She has been able to take exams online.
Dr. Chu – Asked student-athletes about improvements needed. The international student-athletes discussed the application process and admissions. Helene Thill mentioned that some of the admission process has changed since they were admitted and they got caught in between.
Dr. Zaloom – Praised Trey for his program diversity and recruiting siblings and legacies.
Helene and Moses DuPre’ discussed their job duties within compliance and academics. Compliance is a shared responsibility. We educate coaches, student-athletes and staff members on compliance and academic eligibility. We monitor eligibility and compliance for all our student-athletes, coaches and staff. Our positions work with a lot of different departments on campus.
Marco updated employee hirings, facilities, Peak Sports on-campus and outbound ticket sales. He discussed going to one apparel brand for the entire athletics department. He talked about the APR distribution and the different prongs that can be followed. LU qualifies and there is a monetary value to this.
