The Department of Theatre and Dance will present their “Fall and Recovery” dance concert on Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 20 with two show times at 2 and 7:30 p.m. All performances will be held in the University Theatre located on the campus of Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
“’Fall & Recovery,’ the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Department of Theatre & Dance’s annual faculty concert, is packed with a variety of genres as well as audience favorites including ballet, tap, modern, contemporary and aerial silks, but this year we are proud to offer something new for our audience. Micaela Moreno, director of SETX Folklorico, has joined us as a special guest choreographer and has taken on the challenge of sharing not only the style and technique, but the culture and traditions of Ballet Folklorico with our students,” said Amy Elizabeth, instructor of dance.
A few of the performances from “Fall and Recovery” include: "Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow," the newest work by Travis Prokop, associate professor, deconstructs romanticism and touches on the theme of letting go. The dancers break the fourth wall and engage the audience through aerial silks and additional contemporary dance forms. Also from Prokop, "A Feminine Touch" is a dance dedicated to the female influences throughout his life. From his mother, to teachers and friends, this tribute illustrates the power of dance through a contemporary lens. "Grammelot," choreographed by Amy Elizabeth, takes the audience on a whimsical journey inspired by children's stories such as “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Velveteen Rabbit,” while exploring ideas of curiosity, connection and the unexpected.
“Fall and Recovery” tickets are on sale now. Ticket prices range from $7-$15 and are available at lamar.edu/lutdtix.
