Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s second band concert of the 2022-2023 academic year, featuring the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont.
The Symphonic Band will begin the evening with three works for wind band including “American Folk Rhapsody No. 3” by Clare Grundman, “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” by David Holsinger and Brant Karrick’s “See Rock City.”
The Wind Ensemble will begin the second half of the concert with “March” from Paul Hindemith’s “Symphonic Metamorphosis” and a lyrical work by American composer Julie Giroux titled “Riften Wed.” The Wind Ensemble will conclude the program with Ryan George’s “Firefly” and “Symphonic Dance No. 3 ‘Fiesta’” by Clifton Williams.
Performers in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band are Â鶹ÊÓƵ student musicians. The conductors are Andrew McMahan, director of bands, and Eric Shannon, assistant director of bands and director of athletic bands.
The concert is sponsored by the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Band Program, the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music and College of Fine Arts and Communication. Admission is free and the performance is open to the public; no tickets or advanced reservations are required. The outer doors of the Julie Rogers Theatre will open at 7:00 p.m.
