Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Brett Welch, opened the ceremony by celebrating the broad representation among the graduates.

“Our 2,594 graduates come from 15 countries outside of the United States, 41 states other than Texas, and 318 cities and towns in Texas,” Welch said.

The diversity of this graduating class reflects Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s growing reputation as a global institution committed to excellence in higher education.

“This commencement features graduates from Conroe to Canada; from Fort Worth to France; and from Katy to South Korea. Our graduating class forms a diverse population of nationalities, demographics, aspirations, and achievements united by the thread of higher education,” Welch said.

The two ceremonies included students from all of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s colleges, with friends, family, and faculty gathering to mark the occasion.

President of Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Dr. Jaime Taylor, spoke to the graduates about the value of learning from challenges as they move forward in life.

“As you leave today, I wish you lots of success, but even more, I hope you learn how to use challenges and mistakes to make awesome things happen,” Taylor said. “You carry Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s legacy forward. Embrace the journey ahead with open minds and fearless hearts.”

The fall 2024 graduates represent a wide range of fields and backgrounds, prepared to take their next steps in careers or further education. The event highlighted their hard work and the support from the university community that helped them reach this milestone.
