Welcome to the First Generation Connections program! Our goal is to ensure that all students, including first-generation, receive the tools they need to be successful at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Being first-gen at LU means your parents or guardians did not complete a four-year college or university degree in the United States.
Research shows that the barriers to success for first-generation students are not just academic. Social, emotional, and physical barriers can be just as impactful. We invite the Â鶹ÊÓƵ campus community to join us as we build a network for first-generation students to thrive and grow.

Graduate Student, Deweyville
I take great pride in being a first-generation student because my achievements and accomplishments are a reflection of the unwavering support from my parents and family. This recognition is especially meaningful to me, as I strive to inspire my nieces, nephews, siblings, and younger cousins to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams, no matter the field. Together, we can continue to break barriers and create opportunities for future generations.
