The Â鶹ÊÓƵ History Club creates fun opportunities for students and faculty to nurture and enrich their passion for history and come together outside of the classroom setting.

Mission

The mission of the club is to stimulate interest in all aspects of history, especially that of Beaumont and Jefferson County; to support exhibits at the Spindletop Museum; to assist the Jefferson County Historical Commission; to support the activities of the Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast and other local historical societies; and to work with local officials and archivists to identify and preserve local historical landmarks and documents.

The club strives to make the campus aware of the importance and relevance of the many diverse histories of human experience through trips, educational speakers, films, fundraisers, and other special events. It encourages an atmosphere of spirited, open debate in its meetings, and always seeks to advance its central goal of a better understanding of the past.

Membership

LU History Club membership is open to all students, regardless of major, with an interest in history and/or historical preservation. Monthly meetings are held on the second floor of Archer. Annual dues are $5.00.
