Opportunities for social work majors to participate in student organizations are provided at the University and Program levels.
The Social Work Student Association was organized in 1978 and chartered in accordance with the University policies and procedures for all campus student associations. The Social Work Student Association and information is listed in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Handbook. The student association provides students with and opportunity to become involved in campus and community activities that promote social work values and practices for individuals and groups in the community. Membership is open to any social work major or pre-major.
The purpose of this organization is to promote unity among all students of GCSW.

The Delta Kappa Mu Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society was established at Â鶹ÊÓƵ in April 2023. Each spring semester, senior social work majors with an overall grade point average of at least 3.25 who have completed at least 15 hours of social work courses and rank in the top 35% of their class are invited to join this social work honor society.
Students are inducted into the honor society during the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Social Work Student Association’s Annual Awards Reception hosted just prior to spring graduation. Students who qualify are contacted via email with an invitation to join. There is a one-time fee of $20.00 and a certificate and honor cord are provided to each inductee.
