Upcoming: Liftoff Entrepreneurship Trek - April TBD, 2021

If you are a graduate student at Â鶹ÊÓƵ in Science, Engineering, or Business and have a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation, please check out our brand new program Liftoff. Liftoff is a 2 day entrepreneurship trek in Houston where you will hear from up-and-coming technology entrepreneurs in Texas as well as visiting leading innovation spaces such as NASA and Texas Medical Center Accelerator (TMCx). Â鶹ÊÓƵ will be partnering with TSUS universities Texas State and Sam Houston, as well as the University of South Florida for this immersion experience.

LU positioned to lead research on carbon nanotubes

A study published in “C Journal of Carbon Research” could bring distinctive research to Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

The article, “The State of HiPco Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in 2019,” resulting from a collaborative research effort of scientists at Swansea University, Wales, UK, Rice University, Â鶹ÊÓƵ and NoPo Nanotechnologies, India, validates NoPo Nanotechnologies as a producer of high-pressure carbon monoxide (HiPco)-synthesized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), which ensures research in this vital field of science continues. LU chemical engineering faculty awarded patent

After a four-year submission and review process, Dr. Tracy Benson, a professor of chemical engineering at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and Russell Chianelli, a chemistry professor at the University of Texas-El Paso, have been awarded a patent for a catalyst material to make medium chain alcohols using Fischer – Tropsch reactions.
