Healthy Cards 2024

Healthy Cards is the Health Education Department's student program that focuses on outreach and education on campus. Healthy Cards work to serve and educate the Â鶹ÊÓƵ and LIT community.

Healthy Cards was founded on the belief that students can be highly effective in educating their peers' attitudes and beliefs about health and wellness-related topics.

Peer Health Educators

Applications for paid positions in Healthy Cards open in the fall. These paid positions require an application and interview process followed by a required certification training. Any major is eligible to apply!

The Healthy Cards Peer Health Educators, or PHEs, are considered student assistants. The position is work-study eligible. Once a student is hired, they become Certified Peer Health Educators during their first semester in the program. The training is paid and the certification, once earned, never expires!

Certified Peer Health Educators are certified through .

PHEs have the opportunity to travel to the NASPA Peer Health Educator conference annually to learn skills to better educate their peers on important health topics. Students who are CPE certified become better leaders, role models, activists, and team members.

Upon graduation, PHEs will be given a stole that says "Peer Educator" to honor their work on campus.

Volunteers

Healthy Cards is much more than a volunteer opportunity. Volunteering as a Healthy Card team member allows you to meet students from other backgrounds, age groups, cultures, and academic majors.

When you submit an application to become a Healthy Card, you are joining a group of students who all have interest in helping others and the LU community.

Through this program you gain professional development opportunities such as learning how to program, plan events, improve communication skills, cultivate ideas for health and wellness campaigns, network with community stakeholders, among others.

All Healthy Cards who enter the program are provided an official group shirt and welcome bag. At the end of a fun-filled year, all Healthy Cards are invited to an appreciation banquet. Food, certificates, and graduation cords are given to students who have earned their hours throughout the year!
