TAke the Lead

Our students TAke the Lead in a wide variety of service and leadership opportunities.

All Texas Academy students are required to complete a minimum of 24 service hours per academic year. If they wish to be considered for National Honor Society the requirement is 36 hours per academic year.

Some examples of service that our students have completed are:

  • Alzheimers Walk
  • Buddy Walk
  • Community Garden
  • SETX Foodbank
  • An-Nisa Hope Center
  • Giving Tree
  • School's Tools
  • Beaumont Primary Health Care
  • Hope Women's Resource Clinic
  • Market to Hope
  • Church Activities
  • Childrens Museums
  • Stable Spirits
  • Hope Women's Center
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Gift of Life
  • Port Arthur Little Theatre
  • Museum of the Gulf Coast
  • College of Engineering Haunted House
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Our students also assist the Texas Academy and Â鶹ÊÓƵ by serving on panels at our Preview Days, providing tours, working at engineering events, grading essays, being team leads at Texas Governor's Summer Merit Program and much more!

We encourage community service and volunteering not only because it is a great resume builder, but also so that students can learn how to get involved and be leaders within the community.

D - STEM Program

Rubin-Rao-STEM

The D-STEM Program introduces local high school students to the Engineering Design Process and encourages their exploration of engineering concepts in a fun and interactive way. Student's do this by hosting a 4-day, after school mini-STEM Camp run by the Texas Academy STEM Club Volunteers.

In the pilot program that ran early November of 2023, local high school students competed to design, build, and test packaging to protect a single pringles chip from a variety of durability tests.

Program Founder: Rubin Rao, Class of 2024
